NAJAS INTERNSHIPS

NAJAS offers internships to college students majoring such fields as international relations, East Asian studies, nonprofit management. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in Japan, U.S.-Japan relations, public and nonprofit management.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2024 Summer. This is a project-driven internship for 8-10 weeks which is part-time, hybrid and flexible.

The responsibilities include:

  • Conducting the Membership Survey with 38 member societies (Main function, expected to fill 70% of intern hours)
  • Collecting, analyzing and presenting data obtained through the Annual Survey process.

  • General office tasks (e.g. fielding inquiries, supporting outside meetings, researching current events / issues, drafting and clerical duties)
  • Variety of assigned projects to enhance the impact on the bilateral relationship from NAJAS, our members and partners as time allows.
  • Independent self-directed projects on US-Japan relevant themes can be incorporated as time and intern interest allow.

      The requirements include:

      • Good speaking, presenting and writing skills.
      • Strong information organization and analysis skills.

      • Openness to learn about Japan, U.S.-Japan relations and nonprofit management.

      • Local to the DC area and able to commit to a hybrid position with some hours at our downtown office.

            • One letter of recommendation (from an academic connection, employer, community leader, or other reference outside of family) OR a list of three references that includes names, emails, phone numbers, titles, and your relationship with the individual. 

            Please note that the internship is  un-paid, but commuting costs by public transportation and any direct work costs will be reimbursed.
