Close collaboration with the Seattle Symphony provided JAS the opportunity to secure 50 of the best seats in the house and our members saw the world-renowned Japanese Violinist, Kyoko Takezawa, take center stage under the baton of Lawrence Rene. The event was highlighted by a pre-concert reception catered by Wolfgang Puck, intermission at the Founders Room with complimentary wine and chocolate, and a private meeting with Ms. Takezawa after the concert. Hofmeister, President of Shell Oil Company will speak on “LNG, GTL, and Hydrogen: Three Sources of Cleaner Energy” at a business luncheon sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Houston, Inc. and JPMorgan Chase. As the world grows ever more developed, urbanized, and affluent, so too grows the demand for reliable, economical, and cleaner sources of energy. Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) and Hydrogen are three such sources. Japan has been the largest LNG market since the early 1970’s but, increasingly, the United States and other countries are importing LNG in a big way. GTL and Hydrogen may be small now, but their potential is enormous.
